UPDATE: Customer Accounts added to Online Quote App

The new Online Quote App lets you quote hundreds of parts in seconds and place 3D printing orders instantly. Since launching the application earlier this year, we’ve received wonderful feedback from customers delighted with the streamlined ordering process. The goal for the first release was to offer a faster, straightforward tool that outperforms the industry standard - and we think it’s fair to say that we’ve smashed it.

The recent update includes useful features we know many of you have been waiting for. With the latest version, you can register and log in with your own Customer Account. Let me show you what this looks like and the new features you’ll have access to.

Setting up your 3D People account

Registering an account with 3D People takes a matter of seconds.

Start by clicking the account icon and then “Register” in the top right corner of the Online Quote App.

Next, you will be prompted to enter your details:

  1. Your email address - a verification code will be sent to validate your account.

  2. Your name

  3. Your phone number

  4. A secure password that contains at least 8 characters, 1 number, 1 uppercase letter and 1 special character

Once registered, you will see more pages available in the top navigation bar.

My Quotes page

On your “My Quotes” page, you have an overview of all of your quotations. Every new quote you create on your account is recorded here for you to access later. If a 3D People Technical Consultant creates a quotation on your behalf, you’ll have access to them here too. Each quote is given a unique reference number so you can search for a specific quote to place the order in the future. To make this seamlessly fit into your workflow, you can nickname your quotes with a personal reference such as your project's name. For notable quotations that you’d like quick access to later, you can mark them with a gold star to save them to your favourites. PDF copies of the quotations can be downloaded or shared directly with your purchasing department for approval. Quotes can be paid by card through a payment gateway or by purchase order for approved trade customers. Once the new order is placed, the quote will no longer appear on your quotes page but is transferred to your “My Orders” page.

My Orders page

The overview on your “My Orders” page is similar to “My Quotes” but unsurprisingly displays information about your orders with 3D People.

On your “My Orders” page you can:

  • View all of the past orders placed through your account

  • Favourite and nickname orders with your own reference for ease of re-ordering (Quotes with a nickname will automatically transfer to your order)

  • Download a PDF invoice for an order

Continue as a guest

We understand that sometimes you may wish to place an order without registering a new account. This is possible by continuing as a guest and only requires your email address. If you continue to your quotation as a guest, you will be unable to save your quote, and once the order is placed, the only record of your order will be the order confirmation email.

What about my orders that predate 3D People Accounts?

To protect the confidentiality of your previous orders, your my orders page will not automatically populate with your historic orders that predate your account creation. However, if you wish to access your order history, please email us at print@3dpeople.uk, and we can add the orders associated with your email address.

What’s next for 3D People accounts?

The addition of 3D People accounts is the first update to the Online Quote App and was released a few months after the application’s initial launch. The update includes all the crucial features for keeping track of your quotes and orders. Developing small updates and releasing them regularly means you have faster access to improvements. It also allows you to let us know what you’d like to see next, and we can make it happen. Our developers are already working hard on some new features, and we’d love to know what features would you’d like to see next. Leave a comment below or send us an email at print@3dpeople.uk
